Privacy

Sonara keeps to itself.

There is no account to make, no analytics, no tracking and no advertising. The app runs on your Mac, on your files, and the only thing it ever asks the network for is its own equipment library.

What Sonara stores

All of it on your Mac, none of it anywhere else:

  • Your projects. A .sonara document is a plain JSON file, saved wherever you choose to save it. Sonara reads and writes it and nothing more. If you keep documents in iCloud Drive or on a server, that is your arrangement with Apple or whoever runs the server, not something Sonara does for you.
  • Your gear inventory and preferences. What you own, your nicknames for it, window sizes, which panels you had open, the list of recent documents: stored in the app's own container on your disk.
  • The equipment library. Verified copies of the published library live in the app's Application Support folder. They describe equipment, not you.

What Sonara sends

  • A library check, at most once a day. On launch the app asks sonara.andon.dev for the library manifest, and downloads the library files when a newer set has been published. It is an ordinary HTTPS request for a public file. It carries nothing about you, your Mac or your documents: no identifier, no serial, no project data.
  • Nothing else. No crash reports, no diagnostics, no telemetry, no usage statistics, no contact with any other service. Your rooms, your gear and your wiring stay on your machine.

The site and the library are served by GitHub Pages. Like any web server it may keep standard request logs: IP address, user agent, the file requested. Those logs belong to GitHub, and we neither receive nor analyse them.

What we receive

  • Email you send us. If you write to sonara@andon.dev we have your address and whatever you tell us, for as long as the conversation is useful. It is never used for marketing and never passed to anyone else.
  • Aggregate App Store reports. Buying Sonara is a transaction with Apple. Apple handles payment and we never see your payment details. Apple gives developers aggregate sales and download figures, which cannot be tied back to a person.

On the App Store

Sonara's App Store listing declares Data Not Collected, which is the same statement as this page: no data is gathered from the app, linked to you, or used to track you across other apps and sites.

Children

Sonara is a tool for planning studios, not a product aimed at children, and it collects nothing from anyone regardless of age.

Changes

If this ever stops being true, and crash reporting is the likely candidate, this page changes before the release that changes the app, and the date below moves. Anything of that kind would be opt-in.
